3. Mochi

Mochi is a traditional Japanese cake usually prepared on New Year’s Eve. Usually made from rice paste, it can be found throughout the year in different flavours, such as soups and ice creams.

4. Mawa Cake

From India, we have the famous Mawa cakes. They are milk-based cakes, where they will sprinkle nuts such as cashews, almonds, and cardamom. The Mawa is a solidified milk that is obtained from the process of simmering the milk to allow the liquid to evaporate.

This cake is mostly found in Mumbai, where the almost disappeared Iranic cafes that populated the city would serve it. Because it has a strong presence of Indian flavours, it is considered to be touched with nostalgia for many food lovers worldwide.
